Founded in 1978, The Studio Theatre is Washington's premiere stage for the best in contemporary theatre. Led by Founding Artistic Director Joy Zinoman, The Studio Theatre has built a national reputation for the production of area premieres of bold American and European works, innovative revivals and arresting performance art. A highly energetic, eclectic urban theatre, The Studio is dedicated to the primacy of performance, intimacy between actor and audience, and the highest standard production values. The Studio Theatre has received nearly 200 Helen Hayes Award nominations for artistic excellence since the awards were founded in 1985.

“The Solid Gold Cadillac,” written in 1953, Howard Teichmann and George S. Kaufman’s lost American classic percolates with startling contemporary resonance. A “fairy tale” disguised in farce, this play follows the trials and travails of Mrs. Laura Partridge, a minor stockholder in a major corporation. In this farcical Cinderella story, big business meets its match when Mrs. Partridge takes on the big, bad, board of directors, ultimately bringing the executives to their knees. A true David and Goliath story, The Solid Gold Cadillac underscores the power of the individual in the face of corporate corruption.

Contact Emily ASAP to arrange for tickets, etc.

See the website for driving directions.  The Studio Theatre can also be accessed from the Dupont Circle (red), U Street/Cardozo (green/yellow) or McPherson Square (orange/blue) metro stops.  The website has more detailed directions.
